90/18 chair
The 90/18 rest chair was the starting point for a series of furniture conceived upon the premise of designing and manufacturing an object by the use of one primary form and its rotation.
Achieving functionality, efficiency, and comfort under low budget and material-restricted conditions was the main aim pursued during the design stage. An 'L' shape can express the abstraction and the stripped idea of a seat. When seen from a side, the 90/18 is essentially two identical 'L-shaped' bars rotated. The whole process, in the end, consists of pivoting, aligning and connecting this primary form.
The structure uses 1/2” square metal bars bent and welded, with the addition of two 1” right angle metal bars and two 1/4” round metal bars for the seat attachment system. The seat consists of a tensed piece of canvas winding through the metal structure and held in place by the two metal round bars inserted on each end. Canvas was used to provide a flexible and comfortable sitting surface made from an endurable material, suitable for both indoors and outdoors.
