Micah Rosenblatt

Micah Rosenblatt is a Brooklyn-based designer and metalworker. He specializes in sculptural furniture that pairs industrial forms with a whimsical edge. Originally from Florida, he spent his formative years studying Jewish mysticism, before following his passion for design and fabrication at a number of high-end metal shops in New York. This hands-on entry point to metal work is evident in his direct and honest approach to materiality, as well as his deep relationship to craft and detail. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Architectural Digest, and will be appearing in an upcoming film for A24.

Working primarily in metal, Rosenblatt is captivated by the material capacity to achieve great strength with a visual lightness. He’s drawn to its linear qualities, the ability to trace the outline of the form rather than its volume. This approach allows him to express a sense of levity and play in these domestic objects, unexpected in an otherwise cold and industrial medium. With his Tall Column Chairs, the silhouette of a column is traced in hot-rolled steel. The two high-backed chairs rise from both ends of a long table like a pencil sketch of a grand colonnade.
